To Brock, From Grandma Judy @ Pappa Pete
To Samuel Brock
Our great grandson
We are enjoying your blog,
It's really fun.
To read your antics,
That your parents record,
Brings smiles and laughter
And sweet accord.
We look forward to your visits
And your sisters certainly,
Not to mention your mamma
Our dear grandchild naturally.
May God bless you today
And always dear boy,
That you just keep spreading
Happiness and joy.
Friday is here...Yesh Yesh Yesh. Its 8:32am right now and Last night Brock and I went to the ball park...Fields of Legends, here in Jefferson City, our states capital. It was good although we lost the Championship game. The other team that won it though , I am happpy for them. One of the Guys on the team is Omish or a minnenite or somethin and they Brought like 30 people out there to cheer them on and it worked they played a great game and beat us.
Brock you had a good time as usual. We got there about 40 min before game time, as we usually try and do so we can play together on a empty field, Last week someone stole your bat. So this week we had to bring a wiffle ball bat, I haven't had the chance to get you a new one yet will try today, I need a new glove too, the one I have looks like somethin Ty Cobb would use, its getting pretty old but I still love it.
So we found an open field and you and I and two other boys hit some balls and ran some bases then they wanted to go to the park where slides are, so you gathered your glove, ball, and bat and us 4 walked down there. You are getting so good at climbing the obstacles they have there, There is this one pole where you have to hang on it then you can slide down the pole, I showed you how to do without hurting yourself and I was just watching you, as I ussually do, just so you can figure things out on you own and you walked right over there and did it just as I showed you last week. Son you a very smart youngster. Eventually I had to go play my games so I told you and you were like ok, You stayed down there and played around with your lil crowd you always hang with. As the night progressed and I was playing I look for you in between pitches and innings. You are very socialble, Sometimes I'll see you talking to some older people,,,,you love older people you refer to them as Grandpa's and Grandma's..other times I'll see you playing with other people on other teams and in their dugout. Everyone knows you there, When I come to the ball park and whoever I see they will always ask.... Hey where's Brock??? They Love ya.
After our last game the Sprinklers came on, and I wish I had my camera. I talked you into running out there in the outfield to play in the sprinklers, so you did, and as you were running out there all the other kids followed you,...all ya'll were laughing and jumping and it was really neat to watch. You got soaked and to your dismay I had to take you home eventually. You wanted to stay there, and you tell me that every time, "daddy I'll just stay here". You say you love the ballpark..and why shouldn't you, you get to get dirty, catch frogs ,play ball, meet other kids, eat hot dogs, drink soda...shhh don't tell mommy, and whatever else we can think of like sprinkler running. I put you in the car with nothing but undies cause your clothes were wet and before I could get off the gravel road you said " I'm tired daddy, I'm gonna sleep. I said, "OK honey, I love you"...... I love you to" , you said.

Brock and I at B-Mac

Alright so I got this page set so I am able to share many things with you that you can see when you are old enough that I couldn't necessarily express during normal times.
Today Brock, was a good day. I will pick you soon, approx 40 min and my plan is to get us some pizza, eat it, and head to the ballpark. You and I son spend a lot of time there as you know. This is your 2nd summer coming w/ me. This year you have even made it to St. Louis with me. It was a good time. The story goes like this and I am sure as the years go by Justin and others will have told this story many times to you.
We were playing in a Major Tournament, we had gotten there the night before and stayed in a hotel with Mike Brown and his 4 yr old daughter Jada, she looked as though she could have been your sister, blonde hair blue eyes just like you. The Next morning we wake up to get ready for B.P. I dressed you in your ubbies shirt and new ball pants and even gave you blue socks..you looked great, I took some pics they are the ones of you sitting on some bleachers and a few others...anyway we get done w/ B.P. and we are getting ready to play and you were on the field and you and I were hitting and playing together but it was time for you and other kids to get off so we could start the game....You didn't wanna go, you wanted to play to, there were other kids there for you to play with but you could care less, you wanted to play ball. By this time you were on the other side of the fence letting the whole ball park know that you wanted to play...Janelle tried to get you, Jada tried to get you to play but still you wanted to play with your Daddy. This went on for 3 innings and we were arguably playing the best team in all of America. We were keeping it close, I spent my dugout time trying to explain to you that there's no crying in Baseball but you would just hug me and hug me....It was my turn to hit, so I had to go and you start screaming for me...I'm diggin in the batter's box and I non-chanlontley say to the catcher and the Ump..."that's my Son" They smiled at me and the catcher said..."Well maybe you should take that Cub shit off him before child services gets here"...I smiled back. Then you said "Daddy I gotta Pee!! and I called time looked back and you were peeing through the fence onto the field...Everyone cracks up...Then the Next pitch I slugged a liner into left center...gapper. the left fielder dove for it as it was on the ground then tried to flip it to the center fielder but he over-flipped the ball and I ended up Hustling round the bases with a head 1st "Pete Rose" slide into home....Safe the ump yells!! I'm gathering myself and the 1st person I see is you. Someone let you onto the field and you jumped to me and said "you were safe daddy" I said "that's right Honey..... I'm safe"

Our time

Everyday I see your smile,
with new toys to show and hugs gone wild.

You're my daddy you'll say,
and look at this, as you hold up something new to play...
and while we drive, you'll point the way.

When we get home, our hugs come along,
and we will sit back to relax to talk about the day that's half gone.

Somedays the library is what you request..
other days it's the bike or wagon thru icky water..
and we will sure go with zest.

No matter where we'll end up,
no matter how many bats or balls we have brought.
The ride there... and the ride home,
always your smile and beaming blue eyes will flaunt.

Our time together to me,
is why the world has brought me to be.

As these years go by.
I'll give you all that I have, and teach you all that I know.

Then with some luck and some grace,
By the hand that God gave us space...

I'll look forward to seeing my Grandchild's face,
and the tears of joy your eyes will create.
